A Heinz bet (also known as Heinz 57) is a type of system bet based on 6 selections in different events, generating a total of 57 individual bets within the same ticket. The name comes from the Heinz company, known for its slogan "57 varieties."
These 57 bets are distributed as follows:
- 15 Doubles
- 20 Trebles
- 15 Four-folds
- 6 Five-folds
- 1 Six-fold Accumulator
How Do You Win a Heinz Bet?
To get a return on a Heinz bet, you must correctly predict at least 2 of the 6 selections. The more winning selections you have, the more combinations become winners within the system.
- If you get all 6 selections right, the Six-fold Accumulator will give you the majority of your winnings.
- If you only get some correct (for example, 3 or 4), you still receive payouts for the combinations that include those correct selections.
How is the Amount of a Heinz Bet Calculated?
The stake per selection is multiplied by the 57 total combinations in the system. For example, if you bet $100 per selection, the total stake will be $5,700 ($100 × 57).
To calculate your winnings, multiply the value of each individual bet ($100 in this example) by the combined odds of each winning combination, then add the results of all the winning combinations.
Practical Example
If you place a Heinz bet with 6 selections across different events and stake $100 per selection, the total stake will be $5,700 ($100 × 57), covering all possible combinations among those 6 selections.
If, out of those 6 selections, you correctly pick, for example, 4, you will not receive a payout for the full Six-fold Accumulator (since 2 selections missed), but you will receive payouts for all the Doubles, Trebles, and Four-fold combinations formed exclusively with the 4 correct selections. This means that even though 2 selections failed, you can still get a return thanks to the smaller combinations that did win.
What Should I Consider Before Placing a Heinz Bet?
The total amount staked in a Heinz bet is higher than in a traditional accumulator bet due to the number of combinations (57). Before using this type of bet, check the resulting total stake and make sure it fits within the budget you have planned for betting.
